The President Plans to Expand Healthcare Coverage to DACA recipients

Last month, President Biden announced plans to expand subsidized healthcare coverage to include recipients of the DACA program, which could benefit approximately 800,000 young individuals. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposal would allow DACA recipients to enroll in healthcare plans through Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by broadening the definition of “lawful presence.” However, the program’s future remains uncertain due to a previous federal judge’s ruling, which is currently being reviewed.

Updates to Communication USCIS Sends to Protected Immigration Applicants

USCIS has published an update in its Policy Manual as relating to the communications it sends to protected classes of immigration applicants, such as Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitioners. Without getting too deeply into it, it looks like USCIS will be more careful as to which addresses it uses to ensure sensitive information about the applicant is not accessible to unwanted individuals.
